This privacy policy applies to your VISA® credit card account, which is issued by FDS Bank.
FDS Bank cares about protecting its cardholder's privacy. In order to enhance our ability to provide you with the best services, opportunities, and choices possible, FDS Bank (referred to as "we" or "us") collects, uses, and shares certain information about you. This policy explains what information we collect, with whom we share it, and how you can direct us not to share certain information with certain parties. The practices described in this policy are applicable to current and former customers and consumers who do business with us. The policy also explains how we protect the security and confidentiality of our customer information. We make reference to our "affiliates" in this policy. Affiliates are companies in the Macy's Inc. corporate family.
A. Information we collect and sources of information.
We may collect information about credit card account applicants, credit card account holders, and authorized users of credit card accounts to help identify you, evaluate your application, service and manage your account, and offer you products and services you may find valuable. We collect this information from a variety of sources including:
- Information from you on applications or other forms;
- Information about your transactions and experiences with us, our affiliates, or others;
- Consumer reporting agencies (e.g., credit bureaus);
- Other third parties, such as demographic firms, in connection with marketing programs; and
- Online, such as from cookies (small pieces of data stored by your Internet browser on your computer) or other technology that may be used to, among other things, remember passwords for you, help us track your web site usage, or provide you with customized content.
We may disclose all of the information we collect, as described in paragraph A, to companies (including our affiliates) that perform services on our behalf, including those who assist us in preparing and mailing billing statements and responding to customer inquiries. We may provide that information (except for information from consumer reporting agencies) to others who perform marketing services for us and to financial institutions with whom we jointly offer financial products or services.
C. Information we share with affiliates.
Our affiliates include nonfinancial companies such as retailers, and financial services providers such as insurance agencies. In addition to the information we share with affiliates that provide services to us, we may share information described in paragraph A among affiliates for other purposes. For example, we share among our affiliates:
- Information we receive from you and other sources, such as address, telephone number, e-mail address, social security number, and date of birth; and
- Information about your transactions with us, or our affiliates, such as your account balance, payment history, and credit card usage.
- Information about your eligibility for credit obtained from your application (e.g., your income) and from consumer reporting agencies, such as your credit score or credit history (collectively, "Creditworthiness Information")
We also disclose information to our affiliates as permitted by law.
D. Information we share with nonaffiliated third parties.
We may disclose information to third parties who do not belong to our corporate family. These nonaffiliated third parties include:
- Financial services providers, such as mortgage and insurance companies;
- Nonfinancial companies, such as direct marketers, retailers, and publishers; and
- Others, such as nonprofit organizations.
The categories of information we share with these nonaffiliated third parties include:
- Information received from applications or other forms, such as address, telephone number, e-mail address, social security number, and date of birth; and
- Information about your transactions and experiences with us, our affiliates, or others, such as items purchased from our affiliated retailers and others, your account balance, payment history, and credit card usage with us, our affiliates, or others.
We may also disclose information about you to nonaffiliated third parties as permitted by law.
E. How to tell us not to share Creditworthiness Information with our affiliates.
If you prefer that we not share Creditworthiness Information with our affiliates, you may direct us not to share this information by calling or writting as directed in paragraph J.
Note: Your direction in paragraph E covers only the Creditworthiness Information. We may share other information about you with our affiliates as permitted by law.
F. How to tell us not to share information with nonaffiliated third parties.
If you prefer that we not disclose information about you to nonaffiliated third parties, you may "opt out" and direct us not to make those disclosures (other than disclosures described in paragraph B or as otherwise permitted by law). If you wish to opt out of disclosures to nonaffiliated third parties, you may call or write to us as directed in paragraph J. If you have previously informed us of your desire to "opt out," you do not need to do so again.
G. Important additional notes.
- For joint accounts, an opt out request submitted under paragraph E or F by one party will apply to all parties on the account.
- We will process your opt out request promptly. Please allow several weeks for your request to take effect. In the interim, you may continue to receive offers for products and services based on information previously provided. Once your opt out request has been processed, it will remain in effect until you request a change in writing.
- Please note that after your request is processed, you may still be contacted by our affiliates and/or other companies based on their own information.
We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who need to know in order to provide products and services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic personal information.
I. Changes to this policy.
We may amend this policy at any time, and we will inform you of changes as required by law.
